Tumbled Marble is produced by placing the material into large cylindrical containers. The containers vibrate, with the adiition of an abrasive material and water the antiqued effect of Tumbled Marble is achieved. At Vasco we stock many different types and sizes of Tumbled Marble. Sizes range from 3cm x 3cm tiles on a sheets of mosiac, up to larger single tiles. At our showroom in Skipton many of the Tumbled Marbles can be seen in actual room settings to make your selection that little bit easier.

Why use borders?

Because of its natural characteristics it is possible to produce many beautiful and unique patterns and designs in Marble. This is best illustrated with the use of border tiles, pencil strips and dados. As very little is wasted by marble suppliers it is surprisingly inexpensive to add some of these unique products to our project.

In modern and traditional buildings, marble and granite are more widely used today than ever before, chosen because they are durable, practical and timeless. The vast range available from Gerald Culliford gives unlimited scope for the architect and client alike to enhance the beauty and value of any building by the creative use of natural stone.

Marble gives a unique blend of warmth and luxury, certain to enhance any bathroom, irrespective of size or style. Marble is a metamorphic stone formed by the action of extreme heat and pressure on limestone. For over two thousand years, from the times of the ancient Greeks and Romans, marble has been thought of as the most prestigious of all decorative materials. Marbles are as equal in there variations as granite, it is softer and more porous than granite and is therefore less resistant to heat, stains and scratching. Marble works well in bathrooms for vanity units, bath surrounds and shower cladding. It also makes beautiful and hard wearing flooring and furniture.A natural stone vanity unit or shower or bath surround adds a sense of tmeless luxury to any bathroom.

As a general rule the larger the tile the more they cost ,this is simply because more are lost in production. Thus 100x100mm are the most cost effective and we stock up to 300 x 300 but these are considerably more expensive. The neutral colours ar the cheapest, the greens and blacks the most expensive. Tiles can vary dramatically in price but so can the quality particularly on larger sizes as seconds are often used.

What are tumbled Marble tiles?

W well the name sums it up quite well as it's Marble tiles that are literally tumbled together in large drums. The action of the tiles rubbing together give a wonderful worn effect with a soft silky feel to the tile surface. This is a truly timeless tile that creates a gentle elegance that’s hard to beat. Here we show a 150mm tile with a narrow matching border and mirror frame. Tumbled Marble Mosaics are small tumbled marble tiles or "tessera" mounted on a mesh backing. They are available in a range of sizes. The size of the Tessera dictates the price thus the smaller the tessera the more expensive the mosaic. This is coupled with the type of marble, colours such as Verdi or Scabas are more expensive than say Botticinno.
